Texas Governor Greg Abbott Issues Disaster Statement Before Tropical Disruption

AUSTIN, Texas (KTRK) –

As the Gulf Coast is invaded by a tropical disturbance, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster statement.

On Friday, Governor Abbott issued a disaster statement for Texas counties affected by inclement weather and floods as a tropical system approached the state. Earlier, the governor had ordered the Texas State Center (SOC) to increase its readiness level II (escalated response conditions) in response to the storm.

"The tropical disturbance affecting the Texas coast is a threat of imminent disaster, including severe flooding, property damage and potential loss of life," said Governor Abbott. "While we are ready to deploy state resources to help local officials in their response efforts, it is essential that all Texans on their way to the storm be ready to ensure their own safety."

The counties included in the declaration of loss are:

Aransas, Atascosa, Austin, Bandera, Bastrop, Bee, Bexar, Blanco, Brazoria, Brazos, Brooks, Burleson, Burnet, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Colorado, Comal, Dewitt, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, Fayette, Fort Bend , Frio, Galveston, Gillespie, Goliad, Gonzales, Grimes, Guadalupe, Harris, Jackson, Haysgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kendall, Kenedy, Kerr, Kinney, Kleberg, La Salle, Lavaca, Lee, Liberty, Living Oak , Llano, Madison, Matagorda, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Montgomery, Nueces, Polk, Real, Refugio, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Starr, Travis, Trinity, Uvalde, Val Verde, Victoria, Walker, Waller, Washington, Webb, Wharton, Willacy, Williamson, Wilson, Zapata and Zavala.
