The staff at San Antonio Pets Alive! found the animals Friday afternoon. Earlier in the day, a man went to the SAPA office with two puppies and said that he wanted to leave them there, KSAT told the clinic's director, Kylie Brascher.

SAPA staff told the man that he did not accept the stray dogs and directed him to the San Antonio Animal Welfare Office, reported the chain of TV.

"Normally, you can find out if anyone is willing to go the extra mile and take it to the shelter," Brascher told KSAT. "We did not know that he was going to get rid of these puppies. He climbed up wearing them as if they were his own.

The puppies, named Bowie and Crockett, were found four hours later, about 100 meters from the SAPA office, KSAT said. They suffered from flea infestation and ringworm, and their worm test was positive, reported the TV channel.

Staff members filed a police report. Authorities are viewing surveillance cameras to determine who has abandoned the puppies, KSAT reported.

"The life of these puppies was in danger and, as happy as we could help them, they took a kennel to a dog on the list of euthanasia cases at the city shelter," Brascher told the television.
