MIAMI, FL – Some of us have learned the hard way that it's not possible to cook a turkey in a 25-pound microwave oven. Do not look for a turkey in the microwave. But if you come across an essential item on the big day – for example a spoonful of whipped cream, sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie – many stores will be open around Sunshine State.
Some grocery stores will be open for a while and local pharmacies may also be open with limited groceries and liquor. The same goes for gas stations. Do not forget that you can always go to one of the open big box stores to give customers a head start on Black Friday.

Patch has contacted a number of supermarkets and pharmacies in Florida to see which stores will be open to make your vacation a little more special – or your customers once a year a little more bearable.
You can take all Florida Publix Places your list of what is open on Thanksgiving and do not waste time driving to your neighborhood store.
"All stores and pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, so our staff can share the day with family and friends, and we'll be back to our usual hours on Friday, November 23, for your convenience," according to chain.
Publix is not the only one to give its employees the day off. All Costco Wholesale the locations will also be closed as will be BJ's Wholesale Club and Sam's Club. So, scratch those on your list too. ALDI stores will also be closed.
But Winn-Dixie Florida locations will be open until 4 pm

Florida CVS pharmacy stores will be open for Thanksgiving, but schedules may vary from place to place, according to Stephanie Cunha, of the chain. She suggested that buyers call first. All 24-hour pharmacies will remain open during Thanksgiving, but CVS pharmacies in Target stores will be closed. CVS will operate according to a regular schedule for Black Friday.
