Thanksgiving meals start early for camp evacuees

The Oroville Rescue Mission hosted a Thanksgiving Gala Dinner on Wednesday for those displaced by the burning camp fire in Butte County.

The holiday lunch was co-hosted by AT & T at the El Medio Fire Department, serving hundreds of people from the community.

"Make sure everyone meets to have a good time and have a good time together during this tragedy," said Rhonda Johnson, of AT & T, California.

This is the beginning of a series of Thanksgiving dinners. Several events in Chico are planned.

The City of Paradise and World Central Kitchen, in partnership with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., the State University of California, Chico, Associate Students and local school districts, are organizing "Thanksgiving Together."

Opening hours on Thursday: 11h, 13h, 15h and 17 hours

  • Bell Memorial Union Auditorium at Chico State (West Second and Chestnut Streets)
  • Sutter Dining Hall in the state of Chico (Warner Street and Legion Avenue)
  • Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (1075 East 20th Street, Chico)

Line B in Butte County offers free rides throughout the month of November.
