Macy's apologizes for her "technical difficulties" after fans of the Thanksgiving Day Parade film prompted singer Rita Ora to attack what they saw as a clumsy lip sync.
The British singer appeared out of sync with the voices that viewers heard in parts of her televised rendition of "Let You Love Me". The episode has sparked a wave of online commentary.
Macy apologized later Thursday, tweeting that "several artists have encountered technical difficulties that have had a negative impact on their performance."
Ora tweeted thanks to Macy's for "Honesty".
At another moment that caught the eye, a performance of the Broadway musical "The Prom" included a kiss between two female members of the cast. The producers told Entertainment Weekly that it was "the first LGBTQ kiss".
Representatives from Macy's and NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to inquiries.

The balloons were flying lower than usual, the artists were packed and the audience was wearing blankets and sleeping bags, but the freezing cold had not dampened the excitement of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
Charlie Brown's giant balloons, Sponge Bob and other beloved characters were allowed to take off just before the start of the parade, amidst the coldest temperatures in its history. The event dates from 1924.
Temperatures were around 21 degrees (-6 Celsius) and punctuated by the bitter wind.
It was feared that the winds would push the officials to put the big balloons to helium on the ground, but they were finally allowed to fly. Some, however, hovered a few feet above their managers.
Crowds of spectators put on blankets and blankets to watch balloons, fanfares and floats carrying performers such as Diana Ross, John Legend and Martina McBride.

Balloons and groups brave the freezing cold to cross Manhattan for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
The giant balloons of Charlie Brown, Sponge Bob and others were allowed to take off just before the start of the parade, with the coldest temperatures in its history.
The 21 degrees (-6 Celsius) initially make it one of the coldest Thanksgivings in the city for decades.
Some of the balloons flew a few meters above the people who were holding their ties. The balloon's outstretched hand "Journal of a Wimpy Kid" seemed to hit some of the people who were manipulating it on his head covered with a woolen hat.
Spectators refused to let the cold muffle the parade watching by taking out the blankets and sleeping bags.

Passersby face the cold with blankets and sleeping bags to make sure they make it to the Macy's New Year's Day parade.
They are lined up Thursday on the parade route despite the freezing temperatures.
Forecasters say it could be the coldest day in the parade's history.
The New York Police Department said the wind conditions were good enough to allow giant balloons such as SpongeBob and Charlie Brown to fly safely.
Diana Ross, John Legend and Martina McBride are part of the programmed artists.
Tony Stout camped with his extended family since 2 am to make sure they had a good view of his son, who was participating in the parade with the Ohio State University fanfare.
He says he is "frozen and numb, but excited".

Diana Ross could sing "Stop! In the name of the gloves "at the end of her performance at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Super Cold Show.
Forecasters say it could be the coldest day in the parade's history.
John Legend, Martina McBride and the Muppets of "Sesame Street" are also expected to occur in the freezing cold.
Officials will monitor the wind to see if giant character balloons such as Bob Sponge and Charlie Brown can fly safely.
The police said it was ready to order the 16 helium-filled balloons at a lower altitude or to release them completely if there was too much wind.
There have been accidents and injuries in the past when bursts have baffled them.
Other artists include Bad Bunny, Kane Brown, Pentatonix, Sugarland and Barenaked Ladies. DC
