According to the National Weather Service, several temperature records established more than 30 years ago were linked during Thanksgiving.

Thursday, Bridgeport recorded a temperature of 18 degrees, a record that has not been reached or beaten November 22 since 1987. Similarly, Newark, N.J .; JFK in N.Y .; and LGA in N.Y. recorded temperatures of 19 degrees, 20 degrees, and 21 degrees, respectively, all figures not being met on November 22 since 1987.

Although these equal record numbers have already been established, the NWS was not as sure to stay that way.

"Temperatures could drop before midnight, breaking records," said the meteorological service.

The low temperature recorded at Central Park on Thursday – 19 degrees – matched a record set on November 28, 1901 and November 30, 1876, the NWS announced. This record is the second lowest temperature for the Thanksgiving holidays recorded in the park. The coldest minimum, at 15 degrees, was recorded on November 30, 1871.

But this cold weather should soon leave the region, announced the meteorological service.

Friday, the temperatures will be mainly in the 30s, with minimums in the teenage years. But Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will be much lenient in the 50s. A little rain is possible Saturday afternoon or evening.
