The 2018 Healing Race is expected to draw thousands of people to Portland Sunday

An army of breast cancer survivors and their supporters will wash the Portland waterfront in pink Sunday as they leave the race for the 2018 race.

About 10,000 walkers and runners, many of whom are in their finest adornments, will participate in Susan G. Komen's annual fundraiser, from Oregon and Southwest Washington. Similar races across the country have raised millions of dollars for screening and treatment services, patient support programs and research.

2018 Race for the Cure

What: Susan G. Komen Oregon and SW Washington's mission is to educate the public about breast cancer, provide resources, and fund research.

When: Sunday. Registration is open from 7:00 to 8:30. The 5K run / walk starts at 9:00 am; 1 mile family walk starts at 9:30

Entry fees: $ 49 for adults $ 39 for survivors and fighters forever; $ 29 for youth aged 5 to 17; $ 10 for children 4 and under; and $ 19 for dogs.

The Portland race begins at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Participants can choose to walk or run the 5 km loop at 9 o'clock or take the 1 mile family walk at 9:30. And for the second year in a row, dogs are welcome.

Participants can sign up to run and raise funds as part of a team or as an individual by visiting komenoregon.org or the Waterfront Park registration tent from 7am to 8:30 am the day of the race.
