The 2018 Red Sox are the most winning team in the history of the franchise.

With A 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, the Red Sox set a new franchise record with their 106th win. This broke the link they had with the 1912 team, which made 105-47 en route to a World Series championship.

With the win, the Red Sox also won a field advantage in the playoffs.

Although the record season and three consecutive titles in AL East are interesting, Boston's views revolve around something bigger: a World Series championship.

"We have not won yet what we want to win," striker Mookie Betts said after the team won the division in New York.

Yet for a 117-year franchise, reaching a team record for the most wins in a season is a great achievement.

In Monday's win, Betts clocked his 32nd circuit of the season as the Red Sox led 4-0 in the second run. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi only allowed one run and eliminated 10 batters in five innings.

The Orioles (45-111), meanwhile, became the sixth AL team and the first since the 2003 Tigers to lose 111 games, losing 60½ games behind Boston (106-51) in the division. This is the first time since 1939 that teams separated by 60 ranking victories have clashed.
