The Alzheimer's Association organizes Oahu's march to end Alzheimer's disease on Saturday

HONOLULU (KHON2) – This annual walk, presented by the Aloha section of the Alzheimer's Association, aims to raise awareness and mobilize funds to fight against Alzheimer's disease.

The march to end Alahu's illness is non-competitive and family-oriented.

Participants can learn more about Alzheimer's Disease, advocacy opportunities, enrolling in clinical studies, and Alzheimer's Association support programs and services.

Participants will also participate in a "Promise Garden Flower" tribute ceremony honoring people with Alzheimer's disease.

In Hawaii alone, there are more than 27,000 people with the disease and 66,000 family caregivers.

In the United States, more than 5 million Americans live with Alzheimer's disease, the sixth leading cause of death in America and the only one of the top 10 causes that can not be cured, prevented or even slowed down .

In addition, more than 15 million family members and friends provide care for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
