Advanced micro systems (AMD) and Amazon Web Services (AMZN) announced Tuesday the availability of the first AMD Epyc processors on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. The AMD action made the headlines.

At the Next Horizon conference, AMD revealed that its Epyc processors would be installed in Amazon's cloud data centers.
"The availability of multiple instances powered by an AMD Epyc processor on Amazon EC2 marks an important step in the increasing adoption of our high-performance processors (CPUs) by cloud service providers," Forrest Norrod, vice president of Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of AMD Datacenter and Business Solutions Business Group, said in a press release.
AMD said its processors would offer "outstanding performance per dollar for general-purpose and memory-optimized workloads" on the cloud-based service.
AMD stock shrinks from early gains
AMD stock has jumped 8.8% to 21.65% in trading on the stock markets today. He reinstalled for a gain of 3.9% to close at 20.68.
Data Center processors are among the most robust chip markets in recent quarters.
Last week, Xilinx (XLNX) climbed a report claiming he had won a large order of Microsoft& # 39; s (MSFT) Azure cloud computing unit. Bloomberg said Xilinx would replace server chips made by Intel (INTC).
