A month after the golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena was found dead on a golf course, Court documents show that the police collected several pieces of evidence relating to her murder, including three knives. The suspect, Collin Richards, is currently in jail on a $ 5 million bail and is awaiting trial for first degree murder.
Investigators have found knives that can match stab wounds
The new details of Barquin Arozamena's murder on September 17 came from newly published court documents, reviewed by the Des Moines Registry, which contain information about possible murder weapons and Barquin Arozamena's injuries.
Barquin Arozamena's body was riddled with stab wounds when he was found. A warrant application examined by the registry included information on the location of some of his "horrible" wounds, which were on his head, neck, left leg and torso. An autopsy revealed that his body had two different serration marks and that his puncture wounds could have been caused by a blade knife four inches or more in length.
The registry said the police found three knives in connection with the murder. Two were found at the scene of a garage fire on September 20, in a house in which Richards broke into house after the murder. Police said Richards had showered there and collected physical evidence as well as DNA. The two knives they found had blades longer than four inches, and one was sawtooth. The third knife was found in a campground connected to Richards, where they also collected two tents and several clothes.
When Richards was first questioned by the police after the murder, he had a new cut in his hand. According to the registry, the investigators said that Richards' serration was consistent with that of one of Barquin Arozamena's wounds.
The suspect's Facebook account could reveal more
Although the police have already found evidence in at least some of her search warrant applications, she is still waiting for Facebook information on Richards' account. But the investigators found an account that they believe belongs to Richards. From the register:
The social network account, which agents suggested it belonged to him, showed a publicly available photo, updated in July, that showed a cartoon showing a person holding a cup of coffee filled with coffee. a legend: "Let's commit murder". This person added milk to the coffee with another legend that, according to the investigators, said "let's consider murder."
According to an acquaintance, Richards reportedly stated that he "wanted to rape and kill a woman" several days before the murder.
Trial scheduled for January
Richards has been in prison since he was charged with the murder of Barquin Arozamena on September 18, the day after his body was found. Richards, who is represented by lawyers from the defender's office, pleaded not guilty Monday and waived his right to a speedy trial.
According to the Associated Press, District Judge Bethan Currie ruled that the trial would begin on January 15th. If he was found guilty, Richards would risk life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
