KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) An astronaut with four space shuttle missions to his credit landed Tuesday at a Killeen primary school.

As part of Space Week, former NASA astronaut, Don Thomas, stopped Tuesday afternoon at West Ward Elementary School to talk about his career to fourth and fifth graders.

During his four shuttle missions, he spent a total of 44 days in space, revolving around the Earth 692 times.

His mission now is to inspire students to work hard to achieve their goals.

"No matter what you learn, I always encourage them to do their best. I tell them it takes time. I dreamed of going into space at the age of 6, but the first time I threw myself into space, I was 39 years old. It was 33 years later, so it took me a long time to get there and a lot of hard work between the two. worth it in the end, "said Thomas.

Thomas has also awarded prizes to students who are doing the impossible to show kindness and respect to others.
