PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) – The founding member and former bassist of rock band 3 Doors Down was sentenced to 10 years in jail in the Mississippi State Prison for possessing a firearm by a criminal.
According to media reports, Judge Robert Krebs of the Jackson County Circuit Court imposed on Todd Harrell the maximum sentence at a hearing on Thursday.
The authorities responded to Harrell's house after an alarm was triggered in June. Harrell's wife told the deputy ministers that they had engaged in an argument that had become physical. While MPs were talking to the couple, they noticed guns and drugs at home.
Harrell had spent two years in prison for causing a fatal accident in Nashville in 2013. He testified in 2015 that he was an addict and that he was speeding up.
The group, which has had such successes as "Kryptonite", suspended Harrell after a second offense DUI in 2012.
