Hays County, Texas – A bat has been tested positive for rabies virus after falling out of a student's pocket in the Dripping Springs area, according to the Hays County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said they responded to the bat 's call alive at Sycamore Springs Elementary School on October 26th. The animal was discovered around 14:45. when he fell out of the pocket of a student jacket. The sheriff's office stated that the jacket had been introduced inside after being left on the playground. The teacher immediately isolated the students' bat before entrusting it to animal control. .
The bat was then examined by state department health departments, who determined that she was positive for rabies.
