A 21-year-old man died after spending the night aboard a cruise ship in Boston Harbor, Boston Harbor. Cruise officials said the man was "playing a horse game" before dropping off the Provincetown II harbor cruise off Peddocks Island.
The man fell around 8:30 pm State police and coastguards searched for him, recovering his body a few hours later. Police announced at 13:38 that the man was dead.
A member of the crew told him to get off the ship's rampart a few minutes before the departure of the company. The victim returned to the bridge, but when the crew member departed, the victim continued "an even more dramatic form of dangerous gambling".
The ship drew attention to the victim. Michael Glasfeld, owner of the Bay State Cruise Company, said several crew members were in the water, trying to save him.
"The pain we feel for his loved ones, for the gentleman himself, is indescribable," Glasfeld said.
