The last memory that family and friends have of Bailee Ackerman is how beautiful she was on the day of her wedding.

The blushing bride wore a beautiful pearl and feather dress to walk into the alley of her proud husband, Will Byler.

Tragically, just hours after saying "yes", the newlyweds were killed after their helicopter crashed in Uvdale, Texas. They were both 24 years old.

Bridesmaid Madey Pipkin paid tribute to her friends by writing on social media about the couple's wedding.

"This day was so perfect and everything Bailee has always dreamed about, and more. So beautiful, "Pipkin subtitled a video of the couple exchanging their first kiss.

"Life will never be the same without Bailee Girl," she continued. "I am so grateful that God puts you in my life. Since historical reenactments and dang-shaped lapel pins until the days of your wedding, you have always been there. "

"Trying to imagine life without you is indescribable. I can not tell you how perfect your wedding day was and everything that went into it, "continued Pipkin. "The way Will looked at you and the relationship you had was something everyone could live through."

Ackerman's maid of honor, Jessica Stilley, also paid tribute to her best friend: "My heart is broken into a thousand pieces as I sit here and think about the rest of my life without my best friend."

Stilley then discovered how "beautiful" Ackerman was before saying: "I am so happy that you have married the man of your dreams and that you have found the precious love you deserve with him."

"Thank you for loving me since the day we met. Thank you for being the best and best friend I have ever been able to ask. "

Megan Kacir, a relative of Ackerman also spoke to the bride: "Bailee Ackerman, you were such a beautiful bride!

Although the family and friends of Byler and Ackerman struggle to accept this devastating news, a friend wrote that she was in "peace" knowing that the newlyweds were together.

"Will Byler! You were the Woody to my Jessie! You were the brother I never had! Your strong faith and your love for God is what has allowed me to live in peace, knowing that you have crossed the gates of heaven with your beautiful wife, "wrote Maci Meyer on Facebook.

On Monday, authorities identified the pilot of the helicopter as Gerald Douglas Lawrence, 76, who was also killed in the accident. Lawrence was taking the husband and wife to a local airport, where they would go on honeymoon, according to Judge Steve Kennedy, justice of the peace for the No. 1 riding of Uvalde County, who spoke with local media outlets.

The accident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 1:57 local time, a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board told PEOPLE.

Kennedy explained that the groom's father was the owner of the helicopter, a Bell 206B, but that Lawrence had flown it for about 20 years.

"It's truly sad. Tragic, "Kennedy said. "It was not a very big helicopter. It was broken when I saw it at the top of the hill. It was really hard to do.

Eric Smith, one of 700 guests at the wedding, wrote on Facebook about the accident. "We celebrated their fairytale wedding and they were surrounded by family and friends as they flew into the family helicopter," he said. "Unfortunately, they crashed against the side of a hill about one kilometer from the family ranch."

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the accident.
