Bridesmaid Madey Pipkin paid tribute to her friends by writing on social media about the couple's wedding.

On Monday, authorities identified the pilot of the helicopter as Gerald Douglas Lawrence, 76, who was also killed in the accident. Lawrence was taking the husband and wife to a local airport, where they would go on honeymoon, according to Judge Steve Kennedy, justice of the peace for the No. 1 riding of Uvalde County, who spoke with local media outlets.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 1:57 local time, a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board told PEOPLE.
Kennedy explained that the groom's father was the owner of the helicopter, a Bell 206B, but that Lawrence had flown it for about 20 years.

Eric Smith, one of 700 guests at the wedding, wrote on Facebook about the accident.
