A hedge fund manager from New York was arrested this weekend for attacking and threatening to kill a bride on her wedding day – with a sword, the police said.

Carlos Mejia, 43, reportedly attacked the woman in front of a hotel room at the Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey.

According to the New Jersey Herald, he had quarreled with members of the group after being deprived of a cigarette.

Mejia went to her room at one point, retrieved the sword, and then returned to prune the woman on her left arm, causing injuries that did not threaten her life, the cops said.

He also allegedly launched the gun on several others and threatened to kill them before finally being disarmed by hotel guests. No one else was hurt.

Sources told the Herald that Mejia was in Hamburg on business. He has worked for more than ten years as a hedge fund manager in the city and has even opened offices in his country, Colombia.

The cops said that Mejia appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the attack. He faces many charges including physical assault and terrorist threats.

The businessman was reportedly jailed in Sussex County Jail and released pending his appearance in court.
