The British audience up for the wedding cover of Princess Eugenie

LONDON – The royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank has been a huge hit with British viewers.

ITV said Saturday it attracted about 2.1 million viewers during its extended morning show, which broadcasted live Friday's wedding at Windsor Castle.

ITV was the only British broadcaster to broadcast the entire live service of St. George's Chapel.

The contestants, the BBC and Sky News, aired footage of the wedding and crowd thronging the streets of Windsor outside the castle.

The BBC blamed the failure of its speech recognition system with a subtitle that briefly refers to Eugenie's "beautiful breasts" rather than her "beautiful dress" as she climbed the stairs to the chapel.

Eugenie is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the ninth in line of the British throne.
