The chaos that broke out after a heated UFC 229 will be the talk of the event for years to come, but there was also a fight that night – and Conor lost, badly .
Conor McGregor is probably the first athlete who comes to mind when you think of an Irish sports superstar, but it seems that his local media did not join the hype.
Instead, they focused on the harsh reality of McGregor's fourth round bid to unbeaten Khabib Nurmagomedov – and that's not good.

A plethora of local Irish newspapers absolutely congratulated McGregor for his anti-climate return to the UFC after a two-year interruption of the fight match.
The defeat means that McGregor's recent record remains at 2-2 in his last four bouts, and at 2-3 if one includes his boxing match in 2017 with Floyd Mayweather.
Although McGregor became the first man of the career in Nurmagomedov's 27 fights to win a round of it, he was completely beaten and did not really participate in the fight.
Behind the money, McGregor's vulgar speech and massive personality are relatively poor, and the Irish media have informed the Dubliner of this.

The Irish Daily Mail ran their MMA section with the headline: "Sad McGregor Facing the Sad Reality of Life, Who Lived," with a brutal excerpt to follow:
"McGregor has been absolutely central in charging towards the bottom end of the UFC," wrote Shane McGrath.
"Many shared their horror after the terrible consequences of Conor McGregor's defeat, spending years letting out and excusing the miserable behavior of their hero and insisting that the sport and the organization that made him rich and famous and vulgar deserved to be treated seriously, granted to more established purists, they were wrong then and they should be ignored now. The Irish Times covered fewer subjects, but it was also striking. He was aiming at McGregor's general battle plan and urging him to forget the "myth" on which he had built his legacy.

The intense reaction of his national press offers a gloomy glimpse of McGregor's position in his own country – but you can guarantee that his fans do not see things the same way.
It will be an interesting scenario if McGregor's plans to organize his return match with Khabib in Ireland will materialize.

Many commentators have since hypothesized that Khabib was enraged by something that Danis should have said.

TMZ reported Tuesday that Danis called Khabib a "dead Muslim rat" between the second and third rounds of the fight, citing a ring fan.
McGregor coach John Kavanagh denied the claims.
"I was standing next to Dillon. I did not see what he did, but I could hear him. He did not say anything, "said Kavanagh about Joe Rogan Experience.

However, Kavanagh thinks that a slight gesture might have eluded Khabib, or something that Danis said on social media before the fight.

"Maybe there was something else in the building. Dillon is a small problem online. "
But despite the drama, Kavanagh did not do too much exception to Khabib's actions.

"I hope (Nevada State Athletic Commission) is indulgent. Not only so that we can have a revenge. I love watching him fight.
"I can stretch to understand his reaction."
