The Carnival cruise ship rescues the man who dived from the Norwegian ship

Call him the luckiest deep sea cruise ship.

A member of # The crew that plunged Saturday aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship and who was feared to be lost was rescued on Sunday by another cruise ship taking the same route.

Carnival says the crew of his Carnival Glory of 2,980 passengers found and saved the Norwegian Getaway staff, aged 33, Sunday afternoon about 21 miles north of Cuba. He was in the water for almost 24 hours.

The crew member is being treated by Glory's medical crew, Carnival said. A statement from the US Coast Guard said that he was in a stable state.

Glory left Miami on Saturday and was at sea en route to Cozumel on Sunday afternoon when a hotel steward on the boat spotted the Norwegian crew member floating in the water, said Carnival. The hotel commissioner warned the bridge officers who quickly began the rescue operations, including reducing speed, pulling back and lowering a lifeboat to recover the man. "Congratulations to the Carnival Glory team for this incredible rescue effort from another sailor."

The Coast Guard on Saturday launched a major search and rescue operation with boats and planes after Norwegian reported the disappearance of the crew member. Coast Guard resources have searched more than 1,630 square miles for humans.

The incident is currently under investigation, the Coast Guard said.
