The Center for Auto Safety renewed its call Friday to Hyundai and Kia to call the fires of vehicles, according to Automotive News.
The nonprofit consumer advocacy group (originally founded by Ralph Nader's famous celebrity Unsafe At Any Speed) claims that Hyundai and Kia have not gone far enough to address the risk of fires of vehicles in more than 3 million people. Kia Sorento, Optima, Hyundai Sonata, 2011-2014 and Santa Fe models, as well as Kia Souls 2010-2015.
The Center for Auto Safety reports receiving more than 200 vehicle fire complaints from Hyundai and Kia owners, 103 of which were filed between June and October 2018.
"Based on the data collected to date and the inability or refusal of these manufacturers to determine the cause of these fires on behalf of hundreds of customers of Kia and Hyundai who own cars burned, the center estimates that the additional remedy What is warranted is a full recall, "said Jason Levine, executive director of the Center for Auto Safety, in a statement.
