A UN tribute to Nelson Mandela may have attracted the youngest member of the General Assembly when the three-month-old daughter of the New Zealand Prime Minister took a prominent place with an American identity badge.

Premier Jacinda Ardern, Mother of Little Neve, spoke at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit on Monday. Neve watched, but not too much, in the arms of his father, the host of the New Zealand television show Clarke Gayford.

Gayford said the staff members even made an identification badge for Neve.

"I would have liked to capture the astonished look of a Japanese delegation to the UN yesterday, who entered a meeting room in the middle of a diaper change," Gayford tweeted . "Super wire for her 21st."

After Ardern spoke, she took the reins of little Neve. Photos of the famous famous illuminated social media and have been hailed by some

Samantha Power, former United States Ambassador to the UN under President Barack Obama, tweeted that "I can not stress that the @UN – and the governments that make it up – need it. ".

UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said Neve was welcome.

"Prime Minister Ardern shows that no one is better qualified to represent his country than a working mother," Dujarric told Reuters. "Only 5% of the world's leaders are women, so we must welcome them as much as possible."

Ardern is the second woman to have a baby while she occupies the highest office in her country – Benazir Bhutto gave birth in 1990 while he was Pakistan's prime minister. Ardern took six weeks off after the birth of Neve, leaving Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters with the task of leading the country by 4.7 million people.

Ardern, 38, is the youngest Prime Minister in the history of his country and the third woman. New rules for ministers traveling abroad allow those who have a baby to bring a nanny at taxpayer expense. Ardern, however, says she will not travel with Neve on the government tab.

She told the New Zealand Herald that she was also paying for the Gayford trip as there were few events in New York that called for a plus-one.

"There is no program for spouses on this, so we just asked for a judgment to cover her trip for this trip," she said. "He will go to some things, but he travels mainly to take care of Neve."
