Santa was here. It was the same for an ice carver and sellers, even a macaroons seller.

The live music filled the air of the bandstand, and then there were the lights.

Bronson Park was transformed into a Christmas wonderland on Friday while the tree and other holiday lights were lit shortly after sunset. The annual tree lighting ceremony of the city brought together crowds from across the region.

Alicia Kelly from Chicago was at the park with her sons. She grew up in Kalamazoo, she said, but it was the first time she went to tree lighting.

"We just needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air after many days celebrating Thanksgiving with my family," Kelly said. "Since I grew up, Kalamazoo, I have been visiting here and I wanted to take my children to this park that I knew and loved to grow up. I wanted my kids to see Candy Lane. "

The festivities include the opportunity to pet reindeer and hot chocolate.
