Los Angeles (AFP) – Amari Cooper scored a 90-yard TD touchdown as the Dallas Cowboys returned to the playoff race with a 31-23 win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday.
Cooper finished with 180 yards on the receiving end, allowing the Cowboys to win their third straight win. They tied with Washington for first place in the NFC East Division.
The Cowboys-Redskins have been fighting for a long time in American Thanksgiving Day and the latest version is one of three NFL events held during the holidays.
Dallas beat Washington for the eighth time in nine Thanksgiving matches.
Ezekiel Elliott had a touchdown for 121 yards while the Cowboys improved to 6-5 this season.
The Redskins dropped to 6-5, losing for the third time in four games. Quarterback Colt McCoy made his first start in four years.
McCoy received the call after starter Alex Smith was injured in the leg late in the season last Sunday.
Elsewhere, another quarterback mate, Chase Daniel, designed his best professional game by setting career highs for passes and touchdowns in the Chicago Bears' 23-16 win over the Detroit Lions.
Starting in the NFL for the first time in four years, substitute Daniel collected 230 passing yards and two touchdowns while replacing Mitchell Trubisky, who was injured.
Daniel's air attack consisted of launching eight different receivers.
The Bears have won their fifth straight game to improve to 8-3 and are now in the driver's seat in the NFC North Division.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 28 of 38 passes for 236 yards and teammate LeGarrette Blount had 48 yards in 19 carries.
