According to the Associated Press, Ben Selecman, the son-in-law of singer Alan Jackson, died as a result of head trauma caused by helping a woman on a wharf.

People have reported that the son-in-law of the country's star had slipped and hit his head while helping a woman on a dock. He died shortly thereafter as a result of head trauma.

Selecman worked as deputy attorney for Davidson County, Tennessee. After his death, the Nashville-Davidson County Attorney General's Office paid tribute to Selecman on his Facebook page by reading an article titled "Assistant District Attorney Samuel Benton 'Ben' Selecman 1990-2018. Thank you for your service, your kindness, your compassion and for the laughs and the memories.

The young assistant DA married Jackson's daughter in October 2017. From their romance, Mattie told Southern Bride Magazine: "Well, you'll know that we met for the first time with a mutual friend, but I remember afterwards.

She continued, "We reconnected two years later while he was spending a summer working for a judge in Nashville during his law studies. He asked me out and I said no, but he did not give up. He pursued me until I finally saw the handsome, outgoing, pious guy I needed. After deciding we were done forever, he took me on a picnic on the Old Historic Natchez Trace, where we enjoyed incredible wines, cheese, dances and the most romantic proposal. "

In a statement to Taste of Country, the District Attorney's Office said: "The District Attorney's Office is saddened to announce the death of DA Assistant Selecman … Attorney Glen Funk has stated that the Attorney's Office serve the people of Davidson Country. Our prayers are with Ben's family. He will be missed.
