Alan Jackson's son-in-law, Ben Selecman, has passed away. The 28-year-old was married to the singer's daughter, Mattie.

Selecman died Wednesday, Sept. 12 due to injuries sustained during a Florida boating accident. He was Deputy Attorney for Davidson County, Tennessee. The district attorney's office confirmed his death at Taste of Country with this note:

"The District Attorney's Office is saddened to announce the death of Assistant DA Selecman, who was seriously injured in a boating accident and died on September 12. He was 28 years old.

"District Attorney Glenn Funk said the OTP was grateful for each day Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County, and our prayers go to Ben's family and he will be missed. "

Taste of Country has contacted Jackson's representatives for more information. WSMV-TV reporter Jimmy Carter first reported the boating accident, saying it happened a week ago.

Twenty-eight-year-old Mattie is Jackson's eldest daughter with his wife Denise. For the most part, they lived a private life, including private accounts on social networks, but his marriage with Selecman was largely covered in Southern Bride earlier this summer.

Over the years, Jackson has kept property in Florida even though the accident was not found in Florida. The next concerts of the country's icon had already been postponed due to Hurricane Florence. In August, the 59-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer ended three shows due to a respiratory infection. His next show is scheduled for September 21 in Omaha, Nebraska, and another for 2018 is scheduled for the next day in Arkansas.

This is a story in development.
