The deadline to register for the Winchester Star Breast Empowerment Day

WINCHESTER – The deadline to register for Valley Health's Breast Empowerment Day is Saturday.

The annual educational seminar includes a group discussion on advances in breast cancer screening and treatment, as well as ideas on the resilience of author and speaker Linda Crill, author of breast cancer.

The day is divided into two parts: an educational session from 8:30 to 11:45 for all those who are interested in breast health and an afternoon reserved for breast cancer survivors.

There is no charge for both sessions. Breakfast is included in the morning session and lunch is served in the afternoon.

The morning session will be held at the Winchester Medical Center (WMC) Campus Conference Center.

The Survivors Program will also be held at the Conference Center from 12:30 to 16:00. Partners and caregivers are invited to participate in the Survivors Program.

The morning session will include a group discussion on current breast health topics with Dr. William Houck III, Dr. Anita Minghini and Dr. Christopher Nieman. A question and answer session will follow their presentations.

Houck, Oncologist, Will Talk About "Avoiding Chemotherapy – New Clinical Studies Suggest That Oncotype DX Test Has Benefits in Some Breast Cancer Patients"

Minghini, a breast surgeon, will talk about "genetic testing – who needs it".

Nieman, a radiologist, will talk about "Improving breast cancer screening and diagnosis – Valley Health's radiology and pathology departments are developing a new approach to ensuring optimal management of patients undergoing biopsy."

During the morning session, special guest speaker and inspirational speaker Linda Crill will talk about "How to stay resilient during the curves and obstacles of life".

In the afternoon session, Crill will talk about "What Now? Navigate the change and the new. Crill is a breast cancer survivor, caregiver, widow and author of Blind Curves.

Breast Health Empowerment Day is funded by the Winchester Medical Center Foundation.
