A man was saved from the wreck of the ferry in Tanzania, while the toll of the tragedy was 200.
The man would have survived by locking himself in a small room of the ship that capsized on Lake Victoria two days ago, reports the BBC.
The engineer is considered to be in serious condition after being trapped in the MV Nyerere ferry since the disaster occurred on one of the largest lakes in the world.
Rescuers would have found it when they resumed their search after hearing blows from the destroyed ship, which sank near the island of Ukara in the direction of Bugorora.
The bodies are still removed from the lake, with the country's transport minister stating that the death toll has reached 207 people.
Some 300 passengers were on the boat when it rocked.
It is believed that the boat capsized when the passengers all moved to one side.
On Friday, President John Magufuli ordered the arrest of those responsible for the sinking and declared four days of national mourning.
But the Tanzanian opposition party, Chadema, has accused the government of not doing enough to react to warnings about faulty ferry conditions.
"We have often expressed concerns about the poor condition of this ferry, but the government has turned a deaf ear," Deputy Secretary General John Mnyika told AFP.
"We have repeatedly denounced this negligence."
Minister of Works, Transport and Communications Isack Kamwelwe said the government is sending sophisticated equipment to help relief workers.
"This equipment will increase the effectiveness of the rescue operation and we will continue research until we are convinced that we have saved everyone," he said.
The relatives of the deceased had begun to identify the bodies of their loved ones, he said.
