The Dodgers sweep the Rockies, have their biggest advance in NL West in 2018

Earlier this month, we covered the possibility that only one of the Dodgers, Rockies or Diamondbacks would leave the NL West and in the playoffs. The Rockies were in first place, halfway through the Dodgers, who were part of the D-Backs. Now, a little over two weeks later, we see a very different picture.

The Dodgers swept the Rockies in a three-game series, giving them a 2.5-game lead, the biggest in the 2018 season. The Diamondbacks are not eliminated, but their number of eliminations is just four thanks to six games behind the Dodgers. More importantly, the Rockies are also at 1.5 on the second wild and the D-Back at five: it seems increasingly likely that the NL West will have just one representative in October, instead of the last three.
