The email contained this image next to the words "cat pajamas-jam"
The American Embassy in Australia apologized for an email invitation featuring a cat dressed in pajamas mistakenly sent by the US State Department.
The email, titled "meeting," was sent to an unknown number of recipients, confirmed US officials in Canberra.
He was accompanied by a picture of a cat wearing a Cookie Monster outfit and holding a plate of biscuits.
In a slight apology, the embassy called the e-mail "training error".
"Sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to attend this" pajama-jam cat "party, but such an event goes far beyond our area of expertise," the Australian Associated Press said. American mission statement in Australia, Gavin Sundwall.
"It was a training error made by one of our new employees who was testing our newsletter platform by email."
The United States Embassy in New Zealand, however, has not missed an opportunity to be heard.
