Two people were transported to local hospitals, including one seriously injured, after the top of the facade of an Allston building collapsed on the sidewalk shortly before 3 pm. Sunday, according to a spokesman for the Boston Fire Department.

The collapse occurred in the commercial building of a floor located at 75-85 Harvard Ave, which houses the bar and restaurant Common Ground, and was reported at 14:56, according to firefighter Marc Sanders, spokesman for the fire department.

A technical rescue team was dispatched to the scene and evacuated the occupants of the building safely, he said.

Boston police and EMS responded to the scene and the city's inspection services were informed, the fire department announced on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

Debris covered the sidewalk in front of the building while dozens of first responders, including a fire truck on a scale, worked on the scene.

The square plate of the shop had fallen on pieces of facade torn from the roof line of the building.

In a Twitter post, the fire department asked people to avoid the area. Eversource and National Grid employees were also on the scene, the department said.
