Federal authorities have joined the frantic search for a missing 6-year-old autistic boy, who was last seen in a North Carolina park on Saturday.
The Gastonia Police Department said Maddox Ritch, a non-verbal autistic, was seen last Saturday at 1 pm at Rankin Lake Park, located about 20 miles west of Charlotte.
One of Ritch's parents and two other adults were walking to the back of the lake in the park when Maddox took off and escaped from sight, FOX46 police said. When the group of adults was not able to quickly locate the 6 year old, they called 911.
Since Saturday, authorities have searched over 1400 acres around Rankin Lake Park using a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department helicopter and a Charlotte Fire Department boat.
Maddox Ritch, age 6, was last seen in Rankin Lake Park at 1:30 pm Saturday.

The police are asking anyone near the popular park on Saturday to try to remember details that might help them find the boy.

"We know a lot of people were in the park and we talked to a lot of them, but we did not talk to everyone," Gastonia Chief of Police Robert Helton told AFP. 39, a press conference. "No information is too small, anything you think may be insignificant could be helpful to us."

On Sunday, federal agents also joined the research for Ritch.
"The FBI has very specially trained teams that focus particularly on finding missing children," said FBI supervisor Jason Kaplan.
Ritch is described as having 4 feet and 45 pounds with blond hair and was last seen wearing an orange "I am the man" t-shirt and black shorts with a white stripe.
