UPDATE: According to the latest alert of the city of Malibu at 12:27. PT, Woolsey's fire& nbsp; "is now out of control and heading to the populated areas of Malibu.All residents must evacuate immediately. & nbsp;"
Mandatory evacuation is now in effect for the entire city of Malibu in southern California, while a rapid fire called Woolsey Fire burns through the hills and suburban canyons between Simi Valley and the Pacific Coast .
"MANDATORY evacuation is now in effect throughout the city of Malibu and in all areas south of 101 Fwy, between Ventura County and Las Virgenes / Malibu Cyn, south of the ocean. because of the Woolsey fire.Use PCH to evacuate, avoid the canyons, "reads one o'clock in the morning update of the city. & nbsp;
According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the following mandatory evacuations are also in place as of 9:30 am:
- Bell Canyon – Saddlebow Road between Maverick Ln. and & nbsp; Morgan Rd
- Oak Park – the whole community
- Thousand Oaks – W.O. Blvd north of Sunset Hills, & nbsp; from & nbsp; Oak Park West at & nbsp; Highway 23
- West of Highway 23 – south of E. Olsen Road, north of Pederson Road.
- South of Lake Bard, & nbsp; east of the highway 23
- South of Highway 101, east of Reino Road, north of Potrero Road & nbsp; Rd, & nbsp; is & nbsp; up to county limit L.A./Ventura
The fire began with a brush fire lit near the Santa Susana Closed Laboratory (also called Rocketdyne Facility) south of Simi Valley on Thursday afternoon. It has since reached more than 10,000 hectares and claimed an undetermined number of structures.
Rocketdyne's facilities were the scene of a partial nuclear fusion almost sixty years ago and have been the subject of controversial cleanup efforts that have been stalled for decades.
"Our scientists and toxicologists have reviewed the information about the location of the fire and do not think that it has caused the release of hazardous substances that pose a risk to people exposed to smoke." reads a statement from the California Toxic Substances Control Department.
The state says that the fire no longer burns on the laboratory site.
Almost at the same time, Woolsey's fire ignited, another brush fire ignited at Hill Canyon, nearby, to the west. Ventura County firefighters reported that the hill fire had reached Highway 101 in less than 15 minutes after resuming life, then jumped over it.

"Extreme fire behavior, extreme winds, resources could not even go in. It was about getting people out of the fire, we were not even lighting the fire. some places because of the wind, "said Rich Macklin with the Ventura County Fire Department.
This morning, Macklin said the hill fire maintained a little over 6,100 acres.
The fires take place a few days after a tragic shootings nearby and as Campfire in Northern California burns through the city of Paradise.
