The first medical marijuana dispensary opens in Fort. pierce

Residents of Treasure Coast now have a new place to buy marijuana for medical purposes.

Curaleaf, on the federal road near Edwards Road, is the first clinic to open in Fort. Pierce.

"It's important that this is accessible to patients because arriving patients have a debilitating condition and that really gives them the opportunity to choose a different type of treatment," says Michael Costa, operations manager at the regional Curaleaf clinic.

Curaleaf opened its order processing center in the region more than 7 months ago, offering a delivery service, but now offers patients the full experience of the dispensary.

"We also have your spray cartridges, cannabis oil inside, which can also be sprayed by inhalation, then we have oils that are taken orally or sublingually with a syringe," said Costa.

The products are only available for patients who are on the Florida Department of Health Medical Marijuana Use Registry. You must therefore obtain a prescription from a doctor. People with cancer, Parkinson's disease, PTSD or seizures are eligible for the registry.

"I met people with neurological disorders that no conventional medicine had touched and, after a few days, they were able to use their hands again," says Costa.

Curaleaf offers private consultation rooms and training seminars on its premises. It is open seven days a week.
