The five-star class of the 2019 Will Baker center commits to Texas over UCLA

Will Baker is committed Thursday night to Shaka Smart and the Texas Longhorns on UCLA.

Baker, a 7 – foot recruit from Westlake High School in the shadow of the University of Texas at Austin, has held more than a dozen total bids, including from Auburn, Arkansas, Georgetown, Stanford, Kansas and others. He says he chose the Longhorns at the expense of the other contenders because of his confidence in Smart's ability to use it in attack.

"I feel that I will succeed there and that he will really use my offensive abilities," Baker told 247Sports. "I think I'm fine with the guys over there, the other players, and I can not wait to play with Matt Coleman, he's a leader and I can not wait to see that. "

Baker made visits to UCLA and Texas in August, but the Horn's determination, after being the first to offer early 2017, has finally paid off.

Baker's commitment gives Texas the No. 10 recruiting category in 2019 and the first five-star pledge of the cycle for Smart and its collaborators. He joins a class of stars that already includes the commitments of two four-star talents, Kai Jones and Donovan Williams.
