The Florida State attack had very little to celebrate for the first three games of the season.

The Gulf Coast Offense of Willie Taggart has only scored 10 points against Virginia Tech and Syracuse.

The only touch that was scored came in the fourth quarter against Orange, and the FSU attack seemed unable to bring it together.

Enter Northern Illinois, which was by far the best defense FSU had to face according to advanced statistics.

I did not know things would be different this week after the season. I thought that FSU should find a way to reduce it if it were to win.

The Seminoles earned a 37-19 win and had almost four times more points than in the first two games against FBS opponents.

"At the beginning of this week (the players) decided that they were going to get better and they were going to train," Taggart said.

"To hold each other accountable, and that has paid off for them, we need them to continue doing that and I think it showed our guys that they were still doing it, good things would happen to them. "

More important than the 37 points was how FSU got them.

The Seminoles came out in red Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium.

They moved with ease during their first race and found the goal zone – with a little luck – on a deflected pass from quarterback Deondre Francois to running back Jacques Patrick.
