Earlier this year, the former star of "7th Heaven", Beverley Mitchell, and her husband, Michael, were delighted to learn that they had twins on their way. They already had two young children, Kenzie and Hutton, and they could not wait to expand their families.

But just weeks after Mitchell's pregnancy began, the tragedy struck when she miscarried.

"It was a shock," she wrote in an emotional essay on her blog, Growing Up Hollywood. "Honestly, my first instinct was to say that I was fine and to be honest; I was trying to be. I thought I should be, for my family, for myself. I had to take the plane and go to work surrounded by babies and children while I was still having a miscarriage.

But it took her a while to fully understand what had happened and to accept the fact that she had miscarried.

"Although it made sense in my head, my heart could not understand it," she wrote. "I never really considered having a miscarriage since I had already had two healthy pregnancies. It was my misconception, you see, I did not know much about miscarriage and I did not know many people who had miscarried, at least I thought.

Eventually, she found a cure by sharing her tragedy with others and realizing that she and her husband were not alone.

"It was only until I started to share our loss that I discovered that many people I knew shared the same scars," she wrote. "I am now part of a group, the tacit and hidden group that mourns its losses in the shadows.

"Every time I shared what we were going through, I was putting people at ease, nobody ever knew what to say, and to be honest, there is nothing to say," he said. she continued. "Most people who share their story, we are not looking for anything, just the opportunity to share their story. It is with the sharing that the healing begins, the acceptance of the fact that it happened, that is when you ignore it or pretend that it does not happen. never happened that you caused more pain.

After Mitchell published his miscarriage story on Instagram, several women thanked her for being so open about her story and shared their own miscarriage stories in the comments.

"I have suffered twice before the birth of our sweet baby rainbow. It was a dark road on which I often felt alone, "wrote a woman. "Reaching out and finding women who have experienced the same loss has been a turning point in my grief."

"We never recover from this feeling of what life would have been like … I still wonder how our family would be with four children instead of three," said another woman. "But I applaud you for sharing. Too many people have this pain in the back and we have to say that everything is fine. "

In his heartfelt essay on Thanksgiving Day, Mitchell thanked her husband for his love and patience as she mastered all the emotions elicited by miscarriage. She also thanked her friends for being here forever.

"I had my girlfriends on whom I also counted, who, although I did not talk to them much during that time, have constantly recorded and left me messages and allowed me time to heal, but also to show the support wanted or needed, "she wrote. "To these ladies, I will always be grateful to them, they are my turn or my death. They knew me and gave me the space to heal.

She concluded on a message of hope and thanks, and on a call for people to talk more openly about the pain of miscarriages.

"Today, I share my scars because the only thing I want to say is that no one should suffer in silence. Speak and share your wounds, to allow them to heal. Remove stigma, miscarriages occur, they are not ashamed of, "she wrote. "Today, I celebrate everything I have because I am surrounded by love and the most beautiful souls."
