The founder of Faraday Future resigns while his staff is on leave, says report

Faraday Future might have been given the green light to go ahead with the search for additional funds, but a new report says the company is still in a dark place.

According to The Verge, Faraday Future is hiring some of its staff, citing an internal email from Jia Yueting, CEO, that The Verge has obtained. Leave is essentially a temporary layoff, which puts workers on leave without pay for a period of time. According to The Verge's report, the stay will end when Faraday Future receives additional funding.

This is not the only depressing news from The Verge's report. Nick Sampson, one of the founders of the debut automaker, resigned from the company on Tuesday. The Verge also obtained an email in which Sampson alleged that Faraday Future was "effectively insolvent both for its financial assets and its staff."

In an email, a spokesman for Faraday Future confirmed that leave is in progress and that Sampson has left the company, but declined to offer further details.

The departure of Sampson is not the only notable departure of these last days either. Monday, Peter Savagian, senior vice president of technology and product development of the company, also left the company.

Last week, Faraday Future announced that it would fire some employees, in addition to reduce hourly wages and annual wages by 20% as it worked to obtain additional funding. The week has ended with an independent referee determine that Faraday Future was free to seek funds independent of its lead investor Evergrande Health, which was good news, but new funding does not come overnight and it may take some time before Faraday gets the money.

This story began when Evergrande took control of a $ 2 billion investment in Faraday Future. Evergrande delivered the first $ 800 million promised, which Faraday Future quickly spent to put its first car on the market by the end of 2018 or early 2019. Faraday asked Evergrande to ask for more, Evergrande said no, this finally saw a stir when Faraday dragged Evergrande to arbitration for his refusal to be a pony.
