The friend of Mac Miller says that Ariana Grande was "incredibly involved" in her sobriety

Ariana Grande was "deeply helpful" and "effective" for sobering Mac Miller during their relationship, according to one of the rapper's closest friends.

Miller, 26, was found dead in his home in San Fernando Valley, California on Sept. 7, after an apparent overdose. His addiction, which he frequently mentioned in his music, was a problem for Grande, who had previously described their two-year relationship as "toxic" and "scary".

Some people continue to blame the pop star for his death, but Shane Powers, a long-time friend of Miller, praised her for being "incredibly involved" in every step of the rapper's sober journey.

"They were very in love, and I must say that she was amazing when he started thinking," he said in his podcast, "The Shane Show". "It was a fucking G for him." There could be no one more sympathetic to his sobriety than Ariana – I saw that – I was in the corner.

Powers went on to say that Grande called her from time to time to worry about Miller's health: "How can I help? What do I do?"

"This little girl was incredibly involved and helpful in being healthy," added Powers.

The pop star and the rapper split up in May after two years of dating (and so much more with friends). A few days after their breakup, Miller was involved in a car accident and later arrested on charges of impaired driving and hit-and-run, which were dismissed after his death.

"Whether it's dependent or not, the way Mac partied was not healthy," Powers continued in his show. "There was no one in his life more willing to go to the wall for him when he was sober. It was an incredibly stabilizing force in her life and she was deeply helpful and effective in keeping Mac sober and helping her become sober. She was all about him in good health. Period."

Grande is now engaged to Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. They began dating weeks after the end of his relationship with Miller.

As a result of Miller's death, Great has disabled comments on his latest posts on Instagram after receiving innumerable responses accusing the tragedy in his own way.

On September 8, she shared a sweet black-and-white photograph of Miller with no accompanying text.

Four days after Miller's death, thousands of fans gathered in Pittsburgh, his hometown, to remember the rapper from the Frick Park Blue Slide playground, which inspired the name of his debut album.
