Boston police confronted and sued a man who was holding an Airsoft pistol in the Kenmore Square neighborhood around 1 pm Tuesday.
Police responded to information about a man with a handgun in the area of 833 Beacon St. and approached the suspect, who escaped on foot, said Maisha Miraj, a spokesman for the police. police. The pistol was found later in the region.
With officers in his pursuit, the suspect took the Green Line train, then descended to Kenmore Square Station to go to the Barnes & Noble store.
Boston police, state police and MBTA Transit police conducted a security inspection of the store, but did not find the suspect, she said. They got a surveillance video, she noted.
The service on the green line was interrupted during a search of the tunnels by the police.
An MBTA spokesman said trams had been set up between Kenmore and Government Center. The Boston University Police issued an on-site shelter order for all buildings in and around the Kenmore Square area during the search.
