It seems that everyone now has an opinion on the 1-7 giants.
That includes Terrell Owens, a member of the Professional Football Hall of Fame, who pointed to quarterback Eli Manning, while defending his wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr., by TMZ:
"Odell can not play because the quarterback is not performing well so they should replace the quarterback.
"I mean, if it was someone else, another quarter, it would have already been replaced.So, for now, give someone else an opportunity.
"[Eli’s] his skills are eroding and he does not really give an opportunity to guys. "
Owens shared the blame for the Giants' problems, taking a blow at the offensive line for Manning's struggles.
"You have special players behind these not-so-great lines that can do anything from scratch – Eli is not one of those types of quarterbacks – he needs protection."
The retirement options of Eli
For his career, Manning has just two more games than .500 (112-110) as a starter in the regular season. One wonders if this is playing into the decision of quarterback of head coach Pat Shurmur.
When Manning leaves the match, he will present an interesting case for the Professional Football Hall of Fame. His regular season production is average, but his playoff performance, especially as a two-time Super Bowl MVP, is changing the conversation.
What does Owens think of Manning's legacy?
"He won two Super Bowls, but I would not give him the legendary status, I would not put him in this legendary status yet … no disrespect."
