The call hearing of Julian Edelman, receiver of the New Patriots' New England squad for his suspension of performance-enhancing substances, is scheduled for Monday, a source informed of the situation at Tom said. Pelissero of the NFL Network.

ESPN, who reported for the first time Edelman 's hearing date, claims that the 32 – year – old man has got an outside lawyer to assist him in his appeal.

After the imminent suspension of four games that was reported during the Patriots mini-camp earlier this month, the veteran receiver has apologized for what happened, adding that he did not know how he failed the test.

"I'm really sorry – I do not know what happened," Edelman wrote in his article on Instagram in June. "I have spent a lot, a lot of tests obviously during my career, and nothing like it has ever happened."

Edelman missed the entire 2017 season after suffering an ACL tear during a pre-season tilt. He participated in the off-season Patriots program and was on the field at the mandatory minicamp.

If the suspension is maintained, Edelman will miss the Patriots' first four games in the regular season against the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. Unless the suspension is dissolved or reduced, Edelman would make his 2018 debut against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.

Regardless of the outcome of the call, Edelman will remain eligible to participate in the training camp and play in all pre-season Patriots' games.
