NBC Season 15 The voice premiered Monday, Sept. 24 for its first round of auditions at the blind, with two outstanding country artists looking to part with the pack.
The first was Kameron Marlowe, who made such a quick first impression on the coaching panel that Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton turned their heads before Marlowe had 30 seconds. It was not unfortunate that the song turned out to be Luke Combs' sacred fire of regret, "One Number Away," which emphasized the moving agility of the screaming voices of the North Carolina natives. He ended up on the Blake team, but not without serious lobbying from Clarkson and admiring comments from coaches Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson.
Mikele Buck, who chose a different approach, opted for a tender offer version of Brooks & Dunn's "She Used Be Be Mine." Shelton and Clarkson were both interested very early, but they were trying to make others believe. . It was a ruse though, with both coaches spinning their chairs while the bearded father of three finished his clean and classic rendition. Levine helped with the choice of Buck's team, helping Clarkson secure his first artist and deprive Shelton of the twangy monopoly. Clarkson is the favorite artist of Buck's daughter.
Season 15 of The voice continues Tuesday night (9/25) at 8 pm ET with another series of auditions at the blind. Meanwhile, country star Kelsey Ballerini began complimenting online, coaching competitors who failed to audition in what is dubbed The Comeback Stage.
