Utah Jazz began the 2018-19 season with high expectations after a surprising 2017-18 campaign that led them to become one of the top teams in the West and to return almost all key contributors.
However, the season did not start as they hoped, as they showed up in Dallas on Wednesday night with a 7-6 record and a disappointing loss on the defensive back. Unfortunately for Utah, they hit a new low against the Mavericks, scoring 68 points in an incredible 50-point loss against Luka Doncic and the company in one of the worst performances of any team of the season.
Utah scored 25 of 80 (31.3%) and 6 of 35 of the three points (17.1%) on a disastrous offensive night and scored just 22 points in the second half. Their 21 turnovers were only four in number of goals and, as expected, resulted in an unbalanced defeat. The last team to lose 50% was the Grizzlies last season in a 140-79 loss to the Hornets. As for the history of Jazz, it's the worst defeat since the team moved to Utah.
