A JetBlue flight reportedly stopped responding to communications from the tower as it was circulating for departure at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on Tuesday night, triggering a security alert.
Flight 1623 was scheduled to leave for Los Angeles at 19:30 (ET), but stopped responding to air traffic control before take-off.
The forces of order surrounded the plane once it lost communication.
According to passenger tweets, "heavily armed" policemen and FBI agents boarded the plane to investigate the security incident.
The FAA issued a statement on the situation, saying the plane has experienced a "problem of radio equipment".
"JetBlue 1623, an Airbus A320, experienced a problem of radio equipment by taxing its departure at John F. Kennedy International Airport tonight at 8 pm The crew asked to return to the ramp. The FAA will investigate. "
