Jimmy Butler's commercial drama, which surpassed the 2018 NBA season, was almost over on Saturday night. As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN First revealed, the Minnesota Timberwolves were very close to an agreement with the Miami Heat, but they collapsed when Butler's current squad asked for more.

This does not mean that an agreement between the two parties will not happen and that the Heat will remain at the forefront of the trade negotiations for Butler. But for the moment, it seems that teams may have to resume discussions to a certain extent, especially if the Timberwolves are looking for even more than originally thought.

The first news that came out was Athletic's Shams Charania, who said the Heat included first-round picks with Josh Richardson.

It seemed originally that the Heat was not going to treat Richardson, but they apparently came up with the idea. After all, if Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra want Butler so much, they will have to be willing to part with a few players they like.

However, as detailed Barry Jackson's Miami Herald, a heat source said the Timberwolves were asking "the firstborn of all our children". happen.

Jackson then said the Timberwolves wanted a mix of Richardson, Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk, Justise Winslow and a first-round pick. The link with Adebayo has been quite consistent, it seems, and if an agreement is reached, the Heat will almost certainly include Richardson and Adebayo to achieve it.

Time will tell, but the discussions are somewhat mired between the Heat and the Timberwolves. What they will look like during the recovery should be a hot topic, but there is at least some reason for optimism about the possibility of a trade.
