The campfire destruction of the city of Paradise in northern California is clearly visible from space.
The Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena produced a new map showing the damage caused by the fire on November 16th. This map was developed from satellite images ARIA Press Release.

The map covers an area of 48 miles by 48 miles. A close-up view of the damage to the city of Paradise is inserted to the right. The change in color from yellow to red means "more and more changes in the soil surface," the statement said.
The ARIA team creates its maps by comparing the before-and-after satellite imagery of the fire region, the statement said. Maps can help officials and first responders identify heavily damaged areas and allocate needed resources, ARIA said.
