Who are these kings? It's only the pre-season, but Sacramento's young core seems ready to compete, despite all the NBA experts betting against them.
Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Kings made a good performance, but struggled to collect points late in the game, as their coach Dave Joerger turned to a group of hopes of the NBA. The end result was a 128-123 loss on the Staples Center floor. With the loss, the Kings are now 1-1 in the exhibition season.
There is a lot to like from the first two games of the Kings team. They push the tempo and show a lot of promise. They will be tested again Friday night for the second consecutive night in Seattle against the Golden State Warriors.

No disrespect for LeBron James, but the Kings second-year scorer was the best player on the field. He dominated early, scoring his first four shots, including a pair of triples.
Fox played in defense and accelerated the pace to reach a game of 18 points and five assists in just 17 minutes. Joerger sat in the second half to give Frank Mason and Kalin Lucas a longer look.
Sacramento has attracted a lot of attention about Fox's development. He looked great all summer and seemed ready to make a big leap forward in the second year.

The Kings have a pair of rookies ready to make waves. Giles did a show for Sacramento, running the floor, hitting the rider and feeding the pass without a look.
Joerger will fight the urge to play this major child minutes earlier. In the middle of the season, he will give in and let former No. 1 preparations go wild.
Giles scored 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. For the second consecutive game, the 6-foot-10 center has escaped, but that's to be expected while he's getting in shape again.
We have an observation from Marvin Bagley
Bagley struggled to make a difference in his first preseason game, but that was not the case against the Lakers. The 19-year-old climbed the ladder on the big stage finishing with 19 out of 7 shots on 15 to make with 10 rebounds and one block in 32 minutes.
Bagley gets comfortable, which is good for Sacramento. He is a player who can have a tremendous impact without the coaching staff running a bunch of games for him.
It's early, but Bagley's confidence is growing. He has not yet seen time in court with Fox, which could be a very interesting long-term duo for the Kings.
