The longest flight in the world between Singapore and New York is about to take off

The Airbus A350-900ULR making this connection is the first of seven ordered by Singapore Airlines. Two will be used to travel to and from New Jersey, while the remaining five will be used for service between Singapore and Los Angeles starting November 2, 2018.

Using new ultra-long range (ULR) flights, Singapore has announced that the total frequency of flights in the United States will increase from 40 to 53 per week by December.

In terms of miles flown, the flight will exceed the 17 hours and 40 minutes of flying that you can fly from New Zealand to the capital of Qatar. A Boeing 777-200LR performs this operation, completed for the first time in February 2017.

Airlines have challenged Boeing and Airbus to create planes capable of ever longer direct links. In March of this year, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Qantas departed Perth, Australia for a non-stop flight to London Heathrow.

Qantas also promised 20 – hour direct flights between London and Sydney by 2022 and announced that the Airbus A350 or Boeing 777X would be used.
