NEW YORK (AP) – Ricky Jay, a magician, historian of strange entertainers and actor appeared in "Boogie Nights" and other films, has died. He was 72 years old.
Jay died of natural causes at home in Los Angeles, according to his director, Winston Simone. Jay died Saturday.
Jay has appeared in several movies and television series, including as a cameraman in "Boogie Nights"; in "Magnolia" and "Tomorrow never dies"; and in "Deadwood" from HBO. Jay has frequently worked with playwright David Mamet, who produced his solo show "Ricky Jay & His 52 Assistants". This sold out all of his shows in New York and won an Obie Award for his Broadway theatrical productions.
